Prominent NRI lawyer Vijay Goel has been felicitated on his appointment as the Chairman of Asian Business Association at the London Chamber of Commerce, at a reception organised recently at London, by G P Hinduja, Co-Chairman of the Hinduja Group of Companies, and Baroness Verma, Britain’s Minister of Climate Change and Energy. In a ceremony attended by Britain’s Minister for India Gregory Barker, Lord Gulam Noon, Lord Loomba, Keith Vaz, Chairman of the Home Affairs Committee, and MO Valerie Vaz, G P Hinduja spoke about the vast potential for increasing trade between the UK and India, and how the appointment of Goel would help in realising that potential. Barker, who had just returned from his India tour, said, “We (UK and India) are on track to double our trade from 2010 to 2015, despite economic challenges faced by both countries.” He had a special word of praise for the Tata Group, for what they had done in reviving JLR (Jaguar Land Rover), and selling a record number of British made cars in India. Goel said, “The Asian Business Association is now seen as the most important Forum for Asian Businesses in London and is the true reflection of Asian Businesses in the UK.”
